Mission

The Young Women Leaders of Tomorrow Mission:

To recognize female high school student athletes in 33 Massachusetts communities participating in the Bay State Conference, the Tri-Valley League and the Hockomock League, who exhibit exemplary leadership, sportsmanship, athleticism and academic excellence. Athletes will be chosen from four sports: field hockey, ice hockey, basketball and softball.

Who We Are:

Direct Federal, a community-based, not-for-profit credit union in Needham, MA, established the Young Women Leaders of Tomorrow scholarship program in November 2006.

This program was launched on November 8, 2006 during a special luncheon held at Gillette Stadium. The 75 attendees included principals, athletic directors, and coaches with our keynote speaker, Olympic Ice Hockey Gold Medalist, Cammi Granato.

How Did This Come About?

  • Direct Federal always was focused on providing time and talent to worthy organizations
  • Direct Federal had provided hundreds of hours of volunteer work
  • We wanted to do more than just volunteer
  • Direct Federal developed criteria for giving
  • We created a unique community service program
  • Direct Federal formed a brand new community service program called the Young Women Leaders of Tomorrow to empower today’s high school student athletes and tomorrow’s female leaders

Choose a Town

I am honored to be asked to support this program. I strongly believe in the power of education and hope that this program helps ensure that more women will be able to achieve their academic goals.
